There are currently nearly 100 songs and arias available for purchase at this site. However, as I have written over 200 songs, these first offerings are merely an introduction to my music. Over the next weeks I will be adding new music as time permits, so check back often to find out what's new!
When you audition a song, you will not only be able to see the first page of the score, but you will also be able to hear an excerpt. [N.B. Both piano and vocal lines are played by midi instruments.] It is my hope that such samples will inspire to the own and perform these songs!
Songs and Arias are available from my musical "Spoon River: a musical anthology" based on the classic "Spoon River Anthology" by Edgar Lee Masters. There are songs for soprano (7), mezzo (5), tenor (5), baritone (6) and bass/bass-baritone (4), as well as duets (4). This work premiered in New York City and the arias evoke a sense of Americana and sometimes evolve folksong material in a style that stretches between opera and musical theatre. Some of these songs are clearly character pieces while others are true arias. [N.B. The ensemble piece playing in the background is "The River and The Hill" from this show (music and lyrics by me).]
Under "Songs by Type", there are (2) Sacred songs and (more than 35) Secular art songs. As well, under "Cycles and Collections", you will find songs by (4) Shakespeare and (5) Blake.
There are also a few choral pieces that are currently ready to purchase, including: "Gaudete!" (for men's chorus and english horn solo), "Recordare" from the "Requiem Mass" (for 6 part men's chorus), a setting of "Psalm 96" for piano or organ and SATB choir--suitable as a church anthem or concert piece, as well as a setting for 7 part men on an original text "On the shoulders of my father". My "Requiem Mass" is also available for premiere performance with either keyboard or full orchestral accompaniment.
