It has been my life's dream
first to perform and now to create
vocal music for the concert stage and theatre.
With inspiration and dedication--
dreams can and do come true.
“Don’t ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive,
and go do it!
Because what the world needs
is people who have come alive.”

About Me
behind the words and music
My journey to composer-lyricist began as singer-actor.
I did my undergraduate training in Voice at Heidelberg College.
Then after graduating from Northwestern University with an Masters in Voice Performance
and completing my doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
I relocated to New York City.
I have long had one foot in both the operatic and music theatre worlds,
performing over 25 major roles including; Carl Magnus (“A Little Night Music”),
the title role in Mozart’s "Don Giovanni", Danillo (“The Merry Widow”),
John Proctor (“The Crucible”), along with originating numerous other roles.
In creating my own unique style,
I blend the lyric bel canto line (i.e., beautiful voice) of the Romantic period of opera,
with the dramatic realism and rhythmic drive of contemporary musical theatre--
heightening the expressiveness of the text and the overall drama with vocal lines that are
at once both melodically accessible and emotionally impactful.
